Mars Has Faced Several Ice Ages During The Last 5 Million Years

Written by Marko on September 17, 2007

Researchers claim that there has been even 40 ice ages in Mars during the last five million years. Norbert Schörghofer of the University of Hawaii made 40 simulations of the behaviour of porous soil. A probable reason for such many ice ages in Mars is probably the changing rotation axis. Earth’s rotation axis has been stabilizd by the Moon, and therefore there has not been such many ice ages on our planet.Read more about this in the official press release of the University of Hawaii.
