Recent Astronomy Article #1 - How I Found a Comet

The most interesting astronomy findings article for me right now is the one provided by Astronomy.Com. It is a faschinating story telling how comet-hunter Don Machholz found comet 96P (Machholz) 21 years ago, just by using homemade binoculars. In May 1986 Machholz and his wife travelled to observing site to hunt comets. After setting up his homemade binoculars, mr. Machholz started searching for comets. Later in the afternoon he found something that could be a new comet. He was not sure if the object was a comet, so he decided to wait to see if it moves. About half an hour later he realized that it is moving. Mr. Maccholz had just found a new comet which later on was named as comet Machholz. This was just the beginning of the story. Recent Astronomy Article #2 - Space Observatory

My second interesting astronomy article right now is about space observatory and locating an observing instrument in outer space to observe distant planets, galaxies and other outer space objects. Because observing from the Earth’s surface is limited due to the Earth’s atmosphere, a large number of observatories have been launched into orbit. Although this provides better observing possibilities, but it is not enough. The observatories need to be located deeper into space. For example, X-ray astronomy is not possible from the Earth’s surface, and therefore the instruments need to be positioned into outer space. Again, this was just an introduction to the articles. Recent Astronomy Article #3 - Dark Matter and its Implications

My third interesting astronomy findings article discusses about dark matter. Dark matter is something that we cannot see and directly detect, but whose existence is suggested because its gravity affects the rotation rates of galaxies. The future of our university depends on the ratio of the actual density of the universe to its critical density, but the actual density of the universe is not known. Many cosmologists believe that there are much more matter in the universe than we can see and detect, and this has been prooved many times with observations and theoretical explanations. So, it has been prooved that the dark matter exists, but the problem is that we don’t know what it actually is. Sounds weird, eh? It gets more interesting.
