January 2008 Poll Results in HomeboyAstronomy.ComDuring January we asked “What Equipment You Use When Observing The Sky?”, and the results are now here. It is interesting to see that most of those who replied use a telescope. 11/31votes were given to telescope, which is 35% of all votes. 8/31 votes were given to binoculars, which means that 26% of those who replied use binoculars. It seems that astrography is not that popular, because only 4/31 people say that they use a camera in skywatching. By this 13% of those who replied do shoot pictures of the objects on night sky. Just like with camera, 4/31 people use a computer as well. Probably all those who use a camera use a computer as well for image processing. Finally 3/31 people use other equipment and only one persons says that he/she uses no equipment.

I was surprised that only one person watches the sky without equipment. For me this tells that many of the readers of HomeboyAstronomy.Com take their astronomy hobby seriously. They have purchased various equipment which, as we know, can have high prices. I am very glad with these results because it also tells me that our readers are amateur astronomers, exactly the right audience.

I hope we can provide you interesting and useful articles in the future. We enjoy astronomy and writing very much, and it is great to share our thoughts with the right audience. According to the stats, the average visit length in this blog is about two minutes and the average number of page views is almost two. Based on the results of January’s poll and the stats it looks like we hit the right audience with the right articles. For the future I hope we can get those figure even higher. How? May be by writing very long articles, such as 10.000 words :)

No, I believe a better way is to provide quality articles with a bit higher pace than right now, may be 2-3 articles a day.
