Weekend Linking - Cool Shuttle Pictures

4 April 2008 One Comment

Phil Plait of Badastronomy.Com has discovered cool shuttle pictures. I read Phil’s blog pretty often as he writes pretty interesting articles. This time Phil has found a collection of nice pictures of a space shuttle.

In this series of pictures you can see how the external tank of a space shuttle is delivered to the assembly building and how the rocket is assembled. See how BIG that tank is!

It is really nice to see how big the whole rocket system is. In one of those pictures you can see a lady sitting in the backside of a shuttle. This pictures gives us a hint of the size of a shuttle.

Attaching the shuttle to the rocket looks really cool! It is so weird to see such a huge airplane hanging in the air..

Finally they bring the cargo, move the payload to the launch pad and lunch the rocket. Oh man, even that launch pad is a huge structure.. Heh.. my dream job would be a driver of that crawler..

Good pictures! I really like these. Thanks Phil for finding these!
